I have worked in the construction industry since i was a 16 years old lad, started off as basically a "hammer hand" for two very good joiners and teachers. I started off hungry, ambitious and keen to learn to advance as much as possible, these attributes helped me progress after 2 years of being a "hammer hand" my attributes were noticed and I was rewarded by being offered an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery by Charlie brown at clb joiners who at the time carried out all their work for Oregon timber frame, working on site and going to college one day a week. I have taken every great opportunity that has came in my direction so far which pushed me to being my own boss at 22, then becoming a contractor by the time i was 24 with Oregon Timber frame giving me my first opportunity direct,I have since went on and furthered my education over the next 8 years with more qualifications in:SSSTS and site supervision qualification, lifting operations supervision NVQ (blue card), crane operator, STA registered,health and safety, first aid and achieved my qualification in site management and civil engineering (so I have both a black and a gold CSCS card)most recently I achieved my SMSTS qualification I now currently have the responsibility of running my own company Elite Timber Framing ltd along side my business partner Jim Elliott (formally JE Joiners) we are SMAS registered and part of the STA association. Currently we have around 60 joiners working for us hopefully a number we would like to double in the future, unlike most subcontractors within timber frame we provide training for our guys to not only make sure they are trained and competent to carry out their job but to also help them further themselves in the Industry. we provide on-site training and working along side company's such as competence matters, sibbilds or ritchies training center we help our guys achieve their NVQs be that in joinery, any lifting operations, site supervision ect. We pride ourselves on trying to be better and treat our guys better, i believe this makes us stand out from other contractors, when it comes to working on site we have 2 contracts managers, a traveling site supervisor and office staff who look after ours and our clients interests by visiting sites and communicating with site agents and our clients, however every site has its own black hat supervisor intrusted with the leadership of the squad or squads on that specific site. if there is any other information you may like to know feel free to message myself, we are always actively looking to grow as company.
