In this position, I ensure compliance with GDPR, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and related regulations. I am responsible for the ongoing Data Protection work, training, and administrative aspects of the office, including Freedom of Information requests, Data Subject Access Requests, DPIAs, audits, liasing with the DPC and OIC, and all other aspects covered by the GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and Freedom of Information Act 2014. In addition, I represent Maynooth University with the Health Research Data Protection Network (HRDPN) in Dublin. Since I joined the DP/FOI office I have been involved in streamlining processes and introducing new and more effective practices. From the beginning of my tenure in this role I have deputized for the DPO in all aspects of the job.I am responsible for: Ensuring compliance with GDPR/DP/FOI and related regulations DSARs and FOI requests DPIAs DSAs and DPAs DPC inquiries/complaints OIC inquires/complaints Internal training (both online and via tailored workshops) Maintaining the University's ROPA Performing internal DP audits Breach investigation and notification Answering any DP/FOI queries from staff, students, and members of the press and public Advising senior management and stakeholders on DP/FOI matters and legislation Reporting for external audits and government statistics purposesBoth roles require comprehensive knowledge and experience with Irish and European legislation, and the ability to understand and stay abreast of new legislative developments, case law, and decisions from the Irish DPC, OIC, and the European Data Protection Board.My role involves continual engagement with senior university management and stakeholders in many different offices and departments. I also maintain both the Data Protection and Freedom of Information websites and their content, and keep all DP and FOI policies and procedures updated.

I offer Latin classes for students of all levels. My current students range in age from 13 to their 80s, with some studying for fun and some for school and university. My students range in ability from absolute beginners to highly advanced. They come from diverse regions, spanning the globe from Japan to Israel and many points between. For the beginning and intermediate students, I mainly use Cullen and Taylor's 'Latin to GCSE' books, Wheelock's Latin, and Moreland and Fleischer, depending on the students' individual needs. My current group of advanced students are working on unadapted texts including Virgil, Livy, Caesar, and Ovid, moving into Late Antiquity and right up to the 12th and 13th centuries, with work from both Sidwell's and Harrington's volumes on Medieval Latin, studying all genres from poetry to oratory, philosophy, and religious texts. I run a number of 1 to 1 classes, as well as group classes once a week.

Completed projects include: A forthcoming Medieval commentary on an Aristotelian text; A volume of sermons and writings from a prominent academic clergyman in Ireland; A collected volume of Medieval philosophy articles;An article on foreign language acquisition.Details and references available upon request.

I currently tutor students in Beginners and Intermediate Latin with the Belfast Summer School in Classics. We offer courses in Latin and Ancient Greek at all ability levels. New courses include Hebrew, Old English, and a number of non-language courses to do with the ancient world.
