O’Hanlon & Farrell Contracts operate across multiple sites, I assist the H&S Director to promote a Healthy, Safe and Environmentally compliant working surrounding for all operatives through helping to demonstrate compliance with the CDM Regulations and Statutory Law as well as ensure that we meet the requirements of the Considerate Constructors Scheme to help demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility Along with the Director I assist in completing monthly H&S audits on all work sites. I assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of the integrated health, safety, environmental and quality systems (i.e. ISO9001, 14001, 18001) that are established within the company.It is my responsibility to undertake workplace safety inspections and to plan and deliver onsite training to ensure all operative are competent. I must assess operative work place needs and develop risk assessments and method statements for work activity.I have helped to implement emergency management systems that include the coordination of First Aid in the Workplace, Fire Safety and Environmental Impact on spillages (oil / chemical).

During my time at Newry SRC studying a Foundation Degree in Construction Engineering I undertook an eight month work based learning placement.My position within the company was Student Site Engineer on a Multi Million Pound Roads Contract (DBFO2) were I assisted the Main Contracting Site Engineer (Lagan/Ferrovial) to survey and relocate water mainsTo ensure that the work activity was carried out correctly my daily duties included setting out excavations, ensuring installation of new utilities were laid to specification, ensure site safety was adhered by all operatives and writing reports to client on progress of work so to enable early warning of any possible delays as well as managing resource to ensure that plant, equipment and labour was available to effectively complete work elements.
