Managing the delivery and support of information technology infrastructure and applications to the Bank’s business units in alignment with their strategy and priorities. Also responsible for the Bank’s Project Management Office (PMO). Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Standard Bank Africa is a business unit within the Standard Bank Group, the largest bank in Africa with 40,000 employees, and has banking operations in 17 countries on the continent. In 2008/9 I managed the selection of the replacement systems through the issue of an RFP to the international banking systems market to determine the most appropriate system that could be used in all the countries. I was responsible for drawing up the early project and program budgets, as well as the high level pilot country project and program plans to roll-out the core banking solution into the first of the 16 countries that the group operates in Africa.In September 2009 we formed a multi disciplinary team from South African, Namibian and Nigerian IT and business units to start the program and initiate the first two pilot implementations in Namibia and Nigeria. In March 2010, I was relocated to Standard Bank Namibia to program manage the replacement of the majority of systems supporting the bank here including:Core Banking (Finacle Core)CRM (Finacle CRM)Internet and Mobile Banking (Finacle E-Banking)Payments and Clearing (Paysys)Data Warehouse (Finacle ODS)ATM systems (S1)Anti Money Laundering (Infrasoftech)The replacement systems had to be implemented simultaneously and as almost all systems and processes were affected in some way, this was a huge Change Challenge for the Bank, it's staff and the Project Team. The project went live in February 2012 and required full time support for the first 9 months whilst issues were resolved, system and process changes applied and time for the business users to adapt to the new way of operating. Standard Bank Africa is now rolling out the remaining countries following the completion of the 2 pilot countries. I am managing second phase implementations in Namibia which includes a Core Banking version upgrade, and the integration of corporate electronic channels, payments, treasury and trade finance with the core banking system.

Based in the SAS Middle East Dubai office working with the sales and delivery of banking projects including AML and Basel II solutions from SAS.I specialised in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) projects and I was invited to consult to various SAS ofices in the Middle East, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Australia and Japan on the subject of AML projects where I worked with leading banks such as Bank of China (Hong Kong), China Construction Bank Asia, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Japan and Landbank of Philippines.In 2007, Samba Financial Group in Saudi Arabia (previously CitiBank) selected Risk Management software from SAS, and as a result of a previous success with Samba I was asked by them to manage the project through to it's target completion in December 2007. The project was to assist the bank to become Basel II compliant with the Saudi banking regulator for Standardised Approach by 1st January 2008. Due to a late start by the bank, this was a high profile project with a very aggressive timeline.
