While working at the US Army Research Laboratory as an NRC Post-Doc, my colleague and I attended a "Greening Course" where Army personnel interface with scientists to explain the needs in the field of our military personnel. We were informed that the military needed a weapon system that would be like the Star Trek Phasers--where you could dial the weapon from any setting from stun to kill. My colleague and I developed the concept of the Variable Velocity Rifle System which would allow the user to select bullet velocity on a per-shot basis. We formed a small company and were awarded 2 Patents on the Variable Velocity Rifle System.Of interest is that Tom Clancy used our Variable Velocity Rifle System in one of his books.

I provide analytical support at Quantum Analytics for MS, NMR, GC products, and other spectroscopic techniques. My role is to help the customer in determining their analytical needs and then providing an analytical solution that will meet those needs. I am experienced in everything from laboratory systems to complete process systems which requires a multi-disciplined approach. I help with design of experiments for feasibility studies, develop calibrations, deploy on-line, establish communications with DCS systems, and then provide on-going technical support and training for the customer. I provide complete cradle-to-grave support.
I am an Application Scientist with Bruker Optics, specializing in Raman, NIR, and Mid-IR spectroscopy. We at Bruker provide a team-based approach to determine solutions for our customer's analytical problems. My roles include performing feasibility studies and alternatives analyses, implementing on-line and off-line systems, and providing overall project management. To ensure that our customers are successful, I provide both off-site and on-site training and on-going technical support in terms of analytical chemistry, chemometrics, software, process control, and hardware support.
Develop process analytical solutions for petrochemical and chemical industry utilizing FT-IR/FT-NIR/UV-Visible/MS/High Speed line cameras. My role includes performing feasibility assessments, recommend solutions, develop chemometric calibrations, and provide after sales support. In addition to the analytical chemistry role, I also write process control software that integrates an analyzer into the customer's environment--including data acquisition and analysis, chemometric predictions, data recording, and external communication to the customer's DCS via Modbus and/or Opto22 protocols. I developed an Embedded WinXP operating system so that we can have an optimized operating system (both in terms of performance and footprint) that can reside on Solid State Hard Drives (for improved ruggedness).
I opened up and operated a satellite office in the Houston, TX area to support the customer base and sales force for the Texas/Louisiana area. I provided application support for the NIR/Mid-IR lab and process analyzers.
I was awarded an NRC post-doctoral position at the US Army Research Laboratory at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. I developed a Neural Network to assist in FT-Raman interpretation. Secondary research included developing a Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy system using an AOTF.
