Whilst with the company I was responsible for marking out and fitment of stiffeners and gusset plates, the marking of concrete stud positions and the heat straightening of flanges on pre-fabricated beams. These fabrications were to be used as bridge sections designed for the new A14 bypass in the south of England.

Employed by Woodgroup PSN as a Foreman I was responsible for the installations of diesel generator and the skid platforms it sits on, fuel lines and overflow pipe work. The reason was to enable to platform to be switched from gas to diesel ready for the Shell PLC Brent Charlie decommissioning phase. Using work packs to assign man hours to specific jobs and to work safely in line with permit to work system.

Whilst only with the company a short time my role along with others was the mobilisation build on a jack up vessel owned by MPI. The vessel was used for the installation of offshore wind turbines. Our job was to extend the jacking legs so that the vessel could work in deeper water. This consisted of using very high grade steel cut to size to be used as stiffeners to reinforce the original legs for extensions to sit on top. Involved in this work was the reading of drawings, marking, cutting, dressing and welding of plates to the inside of the leg’s.

Working for Woodgroup as an Ad Hoc plater my responsibility’s where to mobilise from platform to platform carrying out essential structural maintenance work to primary & secondary steel work. Along with pipe supports and gratings, walkways and handrails Using engineering drawings and 3D diagrams.

Golden Eagle Installation

Working upon the Nexen Golden Eagle Area Development platform as a chargehand for Woodgroup. I was tasked with accepting and cancelling permits to work. Ensuring tools and equipment were available and on site. Checking work sites were safe & tidy conditions at the beginning and end of shifts. Issuing drawings and work detailed instructions. The work packs I lead varied from removal of sea fastenings to pipe supports and guides.
