After demonstrating the required level of competence and gaining a variety of different experiences in my role as a role fire fighter for over 25, I was promoted to Crew Manager, then Watch Manager at Training Centre. I ensure operational crews are able to demonstrate the highest levels of safety and to be prepared to deal with the challenging and sometimes traumatic situations forced upon them on a daily bases, to conclude a satisfactory outcome when responding to real life saving situations. In addition to my role of instructing crews to be more effective and proficient when being reactive to incidents, I also have a great understanding of the importance of prevention. With this I coordinate a team of emergency service colleagues and accident victims, to deliver a day of road awareness and to highlight the dangers associated with road vehicles, to new young drivers.I am also very proud to represent WYF&RS as a team member of a group of operational & non- operational firefighters who through the UK Rescue Organisation take part in vehicle extrication challenges around the country to improve and develop the skills and techniques of operational fire firefighters in vehicle extrication. I have also recently been accepted as an Visiting Instructor for Fire Service College. Show less
