A highly motivated driven multi-skilled technician with over 12 years of service in the Royal Air Force. With the highest level of training I have worked globally in high pressure environments having to utilise my analytical problem-solving skills to work as part of a team but also managing and motivating others as well. During this time, I’ve been employed in several roles. First trained as a maintenance mechanic where I would carry out daily aircraft servicing’s including re-fuelling, replenishing of engine and gearbox oil and visual inspections. This all-in pursuit of getting the aircraft ready for flight.I then received further training at DCAE Cosford and work towards my NVQ Level 3 and advanced apprenticeship became an avionics technician. In this role I carried out in depth fault diagnosis in a range of complex system such as RADAR, GPS, Flight Controls, Communications and Power Generation systems often working with high voltage. Utilising maintenance procedures, I carry out maintenance on these systems which includes reactive and corrective maintenance, wiring faults, asset replacements and ensuring they have the most current software and upgrades to keep them as advanced and as up to date as possible. I am also qualified to construct and repair fibre optic cables, work with Ground Test Equipment and precision Termination Tools. The intense demands of a front line RAF Squadron both at home and on operations, means that I am used to working under pressure and against tight time constraints on a variation of complex faults – in order to maintain the flying output and reduce repair costs and man hours.I was then promoted to become an avionics supervisor, this gave me the chance to enhance my leadership, management, and motivating skills. Leading teams of up to 10 technicians, mentoring and tutoring the next generation of technicians. I’ve also had the chance to have an out of role position geared more towards management, liaise with pilots and upper shift management to ensure the safe departure of aircraft.All maintenance activities I carry out are in compliance with ISO 9001, in particular COSHH and risk assessments in reference to the task in hand. I’m now looking to transition into the renewable energy sector. Taking my multi skilled knowledge I have learned and utilising it into an area I’m very passionate about.
