Stephen Norris is one of the leading innovators of the Australian aged care sector, pioneering the design, development and delivery of the facilities and services that underpin contemporary retirement communities.With significant experience in aged care provision nationally, Stephen is committed to ensuring all residents receive quality care and support services. He partnered with respected housing industry leader and philanthropist Gordon Pickard AM for two decades on the design, development, and management of more than 2000 retirement units within Lifestyle SA’s 11 villages across metropolitan Adelaide – providing homes to 3500 people.As a director of Lifestyle SA and its operating entities, Stephen has shared responsibility for corporate governance, industry compliance and management systems across all villages as a Board member and equity partner.Lifestyle Plus Services was founded by Stephen in November 2015 to provide individual, specialised support for children and adults with a disability, those who are ageing and need support to stay living in their community and anyone who needs short-term support.At the inception of the business, Stephen played a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations alongside one employee. The business experienced rapid growth, and by 2020, it had established an agreement with Resthaven Incorporated to supply caregivers for their private aged care residents. These caregivers complemented the residential care already provided by Resthaven staff.In 2022 Lifestyle Plus Group was launched with Stephen remaining as Chairman and with the day to day operations and growth of the Group managed by Wayne Boden as Group Managing Director.In early 2024 the Lifestyle Plus Group partnered with the Police Association of South Australia to deliver services as Police HomeCare Services to both NDIS funded participants and My Aged Care clients.He has been a consultant to the Lutheran and Catholic Churches of Australia – organisations responsible for overseeing aged care, retirement living, and accommodation across hostels, nursing homes, and independent living facilities.Stephen was born into the aged care industry, with his parents establishing Arlington Nursing Home in Adelaide in 1960. With his family living on-site for three years, Stephen gained valuable insights into residents’ needs early in life.Stephen inherited Arlington and its associated companies in 1971 and jointly managed the facility while studying a Bachelor of Architecture – with a thesis in Aged Care – at The University of Adelaide.
