I deliver software.In my 20 years at Derivco, I have been in various positions within the QA realm, starting off as a software tester and steadily progressing to the role of Senior Software Quality Engineer. Currently, I am a Software Development Engineer in Test, having adapted to the evolving requirements of the company.I enjoy immersing myself into the projects that I am involved with, working from the requirements gathering stage and following the software through to production.I believe that investing the time and effort from the beginning of a project, pays benefits. Whether it is making sure that the best possible technical documentation is finalized, ensuring that my planning is done, my test cases are ready and the people that I work with are comfortable in what they need to do.Of course, the nature of the business means that it is not always possible and I have to make do with what is available: time ("this needs to be done 2 days ago"), people ("Lets try with half the numbers needed)"), documentation ("We'll get to that soon"). It's a case then of adapting , communicating and doing the best I can.Having worked with teams across the globe and across the country, I am comfortable relating with all levels of people, I can test lead large projects and I can help test the smallest.I have worked on urgent projects spanning multiple teams in multiple time zones, small projects where I've paired with a developer and many urgent different sized projects rushing through. All needing the best attention that I can give. I am competent in front and backend testing, using various tools including SQL, Postman, C#, Selenium, nUnit, Azure, TestRail and Jira and I am always looking at ways to improve and grow my skillset.Some of my proudest moments in my career is watching people that I have helped in some way, succeed.I have led the onboarding of over 70 new testers and have mentored many over the years and still feel the thrill when I hear their names mentioned in regards to something they have done. That makes it worth it.I did try wash this through chatGPT, but I feel that is one of the areas that it falls short on, it removes the human, the real person behind the words.This is me.I love AI as a tool and champion it in my team and business unit, to everyone who will listen, but human wins every time.
