Delivering the Global Civic University pillar of the University's Vision & Strategy 2030. Developing and managing relationships between University of Bristol and community groups, voluntary sector organisations and public sector bodies. Focussed on creating meaningful, valuable and impactful partnerships and projects which deliver our mutual aims. Key roles include: Partnership Manager for Bristol City Council, coordinator of Social Justice Network and Civic University Agreement Steering Group.

Bristol CLT is a member-led not-for-profit organisation which builds affordable, sustainable homes and inclusive, resilient communities. As well as developing and managing its own homes, BCLT promotes and supports other community led housing (CLH) initiatives through it's consultancy arm CLH West and campaigns for greater access to land and finance for CLH groups. As CEO I was responsible for strategic direction and day-to day-operations. This included strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, membership development, community engagement, housing development, housing management, line management of a small team of staff and volunteers, and income generation.

Responsible for maximising the involvement of the community in the work of Dorothy House. This involved exploring new ways in which to consult with the community to ensure we knew what they wanted and working in partnership to find the best way to deliver the services that they needed. This meant working with individuals, community groups, charities, statutory agencies, educational institutions, local and national government - anyone who can help us to ensure that palliative and end of life care is available, appropriate and high quality.

Responsible for strategy, policy and practice relating to the involvement of over 1000 volunteers who were vital to the delivery of palliative and end of life care across 700 sq miles of Bath, North East Somerset, North and West Wiltshire and Mendip. They contributed 183,000 hours of services worth in excess of £1.7 million to the charity. Managed the 5-strong Volunteer Services team which included the Volunteer Patient Transport Service and its 70 volunteer drivers and the Companions service with its 40 volunteer befrienders.

Responsible for strategic direction and all aspects of the day-to-day running of a charity which worked to promote and develop volunteering in Bristol. Included: line management of 5 staff; responsibility for 40 volunteers involved in our service; strategic planning; recruitment and management of staff and volunteers; supporting trustees in their governance; fundraising; setting and managing budgets; establishing, monitoring and evaluating projects; collaboration with other voluntary organisations; lobbying and campaigning on issues related to volunteering; influencing and negotiation with policy makers and commissioners; ensuring compliance with charity and employment law; ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained for its 4500 clients per year .

Responsible for all aspects of the development and running of a small charity which promoted and supported volunteering. Provided a brokerage service for volunteers as well as professional networking and development opportunities for volunteer managers.

Led a department which promoted and developed volunteering among university students and staff. Responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the scheme as well as managing a team of 5 staff. Established many impactful projects in partnership with the voluntary and public sector such as Reading Buddies, Number Partners, and various mentoring initiatives.

Promoted volunteering among 16-24 year olds, working extensively in schools developing new volunteering opportunities relevant to the skills and interests of students as well as working with those outside of the education system.

Supervising youth club nights, organising group activities and projects, running issue-based workshops, providing guidance and advice.

Producer, Director, Cameraman and Editor making videos for organisations including Oxfam, British Red Cross, University of Manchester, Teesside Health Action Zone and Thorn Cross Young Offenders Institution.

Worked for UNICEF and was seconded to Fiji TV where I directed and edited a TV show for young people shown daily on national television. Also produced two documentaries working with young people, one of which was a collaboration with UK schools.
