Profile bio

About Stephen P (Peter) Schmidt

I am a Toxicologic and Diagnostic/Academic Veterinary Pathologist (DVM, PhD & DACVP) with extensive experience in (1) preparing integrated toxicologic pathology reports, after evaluating data from acute - chronic/carcinogenicity preclinical GLP drug safety studies, for inclusion into drug submission packages to Domestic and International Government agencies and (2) preparing integrated diagnostic case pathology reports, after evaluating data from food/fiber, companion and exotic animal diagnostic case submissions, for clinicians, practitioners and State agencies. Toxicologic pathology experience consists of researching test article toxicity; identifying and evaluating macroscopic findings at necropsy and microscopic findings in organ tissue; interpreting organ weight and biomarker data; and correlating the findings and data, along with clinical signs for integration into comprehensive preclinical pathology/study reports supported by scholarly activity. Diagnostic/academic pathology experience consists of researching disease for pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, treatment and anticipated outcomes; identifying and evaluating macroscopic findings at necropsy and microscopic findings in organ tissue; interpreting biomarker data and correlating these findings with supportive microbiology (bacteria and virus culture) results and toxicology data along with clinical signs for integration into comprehensive diagnostic case reports supported by scholarly activity. I meet deadlines; self-disciplined to effectively work remotely; possess strong organization and communication skills; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point), fluent in reading scientific German; and highly effective in collaborating with doctoral colleagues and clinicians, technical staff, and practicing veterinarians; and mentoring residents/students in a Team environment.

Listed skills include Glp, Good Laboratory Practice, Toxicologic Pathology, Toxicology, and 15 others.
