A part of the Alcoa group, Kawneer Uk Ltd a market leader supplying aluminium window systems to the UK building and construction market. I lead a team that consists 24 operative across of 6 departments that includes extrusion process, powder coating and thermally breaking. Actively involved in continuous improvement activities, driving performance initiatives, ensuring KPI are met reducing cost base and continually striving to improve employee engagement.

I joined the business as a temporary employee working across a number of area’s within the manufacturing facility these roles were generally labouring roles transporting materials from one process to another, before long I found myself given the opportunity to learn and take on board a number of processes these consisted of an aluminium extrusion process, Powder coating paint process and thermally broken aluminium process, before long I had found myself secure a full time role and this lead to a full time position in the powder coating department while here my objectives were to encourage and follow safe working practises, at times write them, and increase productivity by way of continuous improvement activities, while working as a member of the paint plant team I would like to think I was a valuable member who was always willing to go that extra mile and brought differing ideas to the table in order to improve the process further. Before long I had a driving ambition to progress within Kawneer the business that had offered me so much already and I eventually seen myself apply for an interim Shift Managers role before long I was given the opportunity to take the role on and a shift of my own full time. The experience I have gained from the manufacturing facility before making a step up the ladder has put me in good stead which has seen me enjoy a successful career at Kawneer to date.
