An energy industry professional with over thirty years’ experience in health, safety, security, environmental and social performance management. Experienced at working at all levels in an organization from Board and Executive Directors, Government Representatives, operations personnel and contracted support companies. Since the start of 2020, I have been working with clients at Executive and Board level to help them understand their legal obligations and how they, as leaders, can effect positive change in the way safety is defined and managed. These very rich conversations are based on the Due Diligence framework for senior officers, requiring them to know the significant hazards within their business; understand how these are being eliminated or controlled and the value that a clear and concise management system can play in this; and how to test the effectiveness of critical controls through sound assurance and verification processes. The additional step of how to learn well when things do not go right (and also when they do go right) includes challenging the of use of lagging metrics. Related to this, the recent industrial manslaughter provisions in WHS legislation in Australia have invariably led to challenges to investigation processes and these can provide opportunities to be better at learning and managing the outcomes of unwanted events. Key personal qualities include drive to achieve business performance improvements, working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and delivery to tight deadlines. Other qualities include a positive attitude and collaborative style for delivery both individually and within a team environment.Client sectors in which I have been working as Pearson Advisory include energy/oil and gas; power generation and distribution; agriculture (including labour hire) and Regulatory bodies in Queensland.
Listed skills include Safety Management Systems, Occupational Health, Gas, Workplace Safety, and 18 others.
