Managed statistics application servers for telephone companies. Developed and maintained system monitoring, installed OS patches and trouble shot server issues. Wrote custom reports using T-SQL, stored procedures C programming language, and delivered report via Web ASP, Visual Basic scripts and SQL quires inside an Excel spread sheet or thru Email messages using SMTP. Created server installation standards and documentation for all middleware running on servers. Often had to create temporary fixes and work around to keep servers running while application Development and Test groups produced the final fix according to the ISO 9001 QMS procedures. Selected Achievement:• Developed T-SQL queries and stored procedures to produce custom reports generating tens thousands of dollars for customer support.• Plan the migration and merger of servers included project management and directing the server and database work. My final project was for $70,000+ in income.• Documented customer server needs and hardware requirements for add-ons and produced Bill of Materials for pricing of projects Purchase orders.

Managed special directory assistance services like Sport Scores, Weather, Movies and Online Yellow Pages. Managed servers and database loads for these services. Often found myself writing front end programs (ETL) to remove problems from data feeds or writing scripts to transfer the data to non DA customers. I enjoyed extensive trouble shooting in this position. I initiated the concept of automated testing where we tested the data path of all services every few minutes to verify functionality. I started up the Online Yellow page offering and documented the loading process in our environment and then passed the loading procedures onto the Computer operations staff. I wrote the company’s Web Services (IIS) Installation Standards for installing eighteen IIS Web servers and upward to 10 plus virtual directories on each Web server. I wrote the process to secure the Web Sites and Virtual Directories from unauthorized users within our customer base.Selected Achievement:• Wrote requirement specifications for software products and enhancements to streamline repetitive labor tasks/costs; savings unknown.• Documented installation and configuration standards for IIS Web server and Windows Database server. • Developed Tools to reduce labor of database loads. One set of tools saved the company $70,000 – 80,000 a year in labor costs.• Supervised the Billing Clerk and supported him with MS-SQL support.• Developed a solution to add Winter Olympics results to the movies database. The project required SQL stored procedures, quires and a score maintenance application in Visual Basic. This made the company several thousands of dollars and countless customer points for a week’s worth of development time. The development organization could not develop and test an application within a two week time period.

Managed several Tandem systems for Test, Development and Production. Management included installing software, re-configuring and upgrading software, installing hardware, security and user maintenance to meet developments needs. Eventually I took over the hardware maintenance as the company went to self maintenances of the local system.Selected Achievement:• Planned and documented all Customer’s Tandem system hardware configuration changes; standardizing configurations and eliminating the need for vendor’s configuration and planning; thus saving thousands per configuration change.• Developed tools for automating, database reorganizations (Database Defragmentation) saving the company several man days of labor per week.• Reviewed Vendor Maintenance contracts for Customer sites and generally found errors saving the company money on maintenance. • Maintained Tandem hardware for in-house development and test systems, saving the company several times my annual salary each year.
