I learned the open source neural network platform Caffe and created a python interface for training, testing, and deploying neural nets of various architectures on many different datasets. I used deep learning algorithms in conjunction with convolutional neural networks in order to investigate for signal patterns in financial data.

I am a teaching assistant for one course each year in the Geologic and Planetary Sciences division. I taught, led office hours, and facilitated a field trip in a team of TAs for Ge 1: Earth and Environmental Science. I was the sole TA in charge of solutions/grading material, leading student discussions, and office hours for Ge 161: Plate Tectonics. My work focuses on numerical modeling of earthquake physical processes. Using a fully dynamic numerical code I simulate sequences of earthquakes in order to investigate how earthquakes nucleate, propagate, and arrest.

Research focused on optical physics applications in a biomedical research group, specifically those related to fluorescence microscopy. I determined a method of measuring photobleaching of fluorescent proteins and carried out measurements for a collaborating lab. I also did work collaborating with several labs to select aptamers that enhance the fluorescence of dyes inside the nuclei of cells.
