To lead develop & manage commercial operations for The Cheltenham Trust- Sales, Operations, Tourist Information, Commercial Development & Contracts, Policy (incl health & safety) Customer Services and partner liaison

I lead and support a team in excess of 72 employees delivering a service to more than 600,000 visitors per year. In a very complex and highly competitive market the challenge has been to drive efficiency and grow income. Diversification of the business to ensure a strong mix of health and fitness, coached programmes, hires and secondary spend in combination with partnerships with other organisations eg Health and Higher Education. The business focus certainly since 2012 has been one of “retain and grow”, all whilst contributing to the wider drive by council to reduce cost and meet the ever increasing demands placed upon services with shrinking central resources.This development of services particularly in the last 5 years has been to create a hub within Cheltenham for increasing the physical activity, health and wellbeing levels of its citizens. I have led the development of a culture that drives success of the commercial business; this is built upon its people, engagement with our customers, partners and seeing relationships in business to work together for mutual benefit. Developing the brand, our external face, developing media relations and seeking to build reputation for service and quality have also underpinned the success story. The strong commercial business is essential to support the community and subsidised activity provided.Key Achievements: - In the period 1 April 2012 – 31 March 2014 the business has seen a net reduction in operational subsidy of 30% through income growth of £200k and management of cost within budget.- I have an executive lead role in the critical work streams to provide support services and transition into the new Trust in the following areas Human Resources, Financial services, ICT, Internal and External Audit, Legal Services, Learning, Development, Health and Safety, Property and Estates Service and local service transition planning.
