As the Head of Make Happen I lead the Essex branch of the uni connect programme. I manage an excellent team of over 20 outreach pracitioners. Across the programme we deliver hundreds of impartial outreach activities to support young people accessing information to help them make an informed decision around Higher Education. I manage the programmes budget as well as its evaluation approach. Make Happen is a partnership of local universities, FE colleges and local authorities. I work with each of these institutions to ensure they are involved in the governance and delivery of the programme. As a part of this I sit on a number of regional boards within various institutions to ensure that the county has a joined up approach to supporting young people.

As the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer for Make Happen I was responsible for the evaluation of all activity within the programme. Make Happen is a part of the Uni Connect programme and delivers hundreds of outreach activities each academic year to support young people accessing high quality information. My role was the lead for evaluation across the programme. I produced the programmes evaluation strategy as well as designing streamlined processes for implementation across the team. I was the lead for data protection within the department and worked with partner institutions to ensure we could share data effectively.

As the Project Officer and Data Analyst for Access and Participation I had a broad remit covering Access and Participation across the institution. I was the lead for all data analysis and evaluation across the student lifecycle. I led on all data analysis related to under-represented groups and would feed this data back to colleagues from across the institution, including senior management. I implemented an annual evaluation cycle to ensure that all projects were robustly evaluated and reviewed on a regular basis. The Project Officer element of my role required me to support the production and oversight of the Access and Participation Plan across the institution. I supported the various commitees responsible for supporting under-represented groups. I worked with colleagues from across the institution to ensure that we were taking a joined up approach to the APP. As part of this I took a leading role in the co-ordination and development of the universities Access and Participation Plan. This involved working with senior managers as well as the OfS to ensure that the universities approach fit with OfS requirements.
