Ecmo Specialist
Current• Providing care for critically ill ECMO patients, advising medical team on further treatment options. Rapidly responding to requests for need of ECMO support, inter-hospital transports via Survival Flight ambulance/helicopter/fixed wing jet.• Unit Based Committee (UBC) member- I participate in discussion and changes surrounding clinical practice, minimizing risk, safety concerns, stock and inventory decision, and medical management. Listening to various lectures about risk reporting, infectious disease, survival flight, and many others. Responsible for maintain strong lines of communication to other staff members to bring concerns back to the committee for evaluation. • I developed and maintain a data base to retrospectively, and continue to, collect data on patients with specific ECMO circuit configurations. I collected all the data points for the data base as well as interpreted the data into information to then be presented to our UBC committee effectively changing practice, and policies. Participated in the roll out of new ECMO pump equipment, and assisting with creating emergency and start up procedures.
