I can develop Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that are compliant as per the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) as well as create product labels as per DOT, IMDG and IATA regulations. Worked to protect brand reputation by ensuring all products met the regulatory requirements in the areas in which the company worked. Coordinated with operations when new countries or regions were entered so that products could be used. Kept abreast of current regulations as well as review regulations for new country entry.

Gathered data, analyzed and prepared the safety statistics for corporate and the two operating divisions, which were presented to upper management as well as to the Board of Directors. Initiated the implementation of a safety software that was to be used to gather safety data. This data would provide information that would lead to insight and finally to actionable wisdom so that safety programs could be initiated based on the need. Worked to develop a Safety Review Board to consider/review all recordable incidents to ensure the accuracy of the classification and consistency across the various divisions. Represented the companies in various environmental issues with both state agencies and landowners.

Implemented a software to generate Safety Data Sheets in house, as opposed to third party vendors, in order to confirm the completeness, compliance and accuracy of the documents thus ensuring brand reputation. Worked across multiple departments, including R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing and Manufacturing, to establish the importance of compliance, ensure that products were compliant with all applicable regulations and to research requirements for new areas which the company wanted to enter. Good communications and coordination led to improved times to get products to market. Also worked with the product development group and supply chain department to alert if there were any issues with product compliance in the various regulatory regions. When ecotoxicity tests were needed, would liaison with the various laboratories to ensure the proper tests were conducted and that these tests were work performed correctly

Directed the Occupational Health program and assisted the Director of OH&E in the execution of the Company’s Occupational Health objectives as outlined in the Health Policy. Formulated and promoted a continuing program in Occupational Health policies for all operating divisions within M-I SWACO. Performed workplace exposure monitoring to ensure compliance with local regulations. Evaluated new waste management equipment for exposure concerns as well as performing these measurements in field trials. Instructed local QHSE personnel on the issues associated with occupational health and industrial hygiene as well as training on the use of industrial hygiene monitoring equipment. Represented company in industry workgroup involving industrial hygiene issue. Evaluated test methods for measuring the amount of respirable crystalline silica in bulk product samples. From 2007 to 2010, managed product safety issues as well as managed the development/revisions of Material Safety Data Sheets.

Supported the development of new products using environmental toxicity tests, provided customer support on environmental issues, and developed new testing protocols for regulatory use. These new testing protocols would be used in the Gulf of Mexico general permit for offshore oil and gas drilling. Represented Industry in meetings with government agencies.
