Business OwnerConserve Energy Ltd Mar 2020 - PresentNorwich, England, United KingdomHelping clients understand their energy usage to take action and reduce costs. After spending 6 years working with a large portfolio of over 8000 sites, I have decided to focus on a smaller group of clients enabling me to get more involved in the individual projects. -
Energy ManagerAnglia Farmers Limited Nov 2013 - Mar 2020I Initially joined the company to help members access and install renewable technologies. Covering everything from Anaerobic Digesters all the way through to Heat Recovery systems. Soon after settling in to the role it was clear that members needed to consider their energy strategy as a whole rather than a one size fits all approach which certain incentives had encouraged since the boom of Solar PV. From that point onwards my role became more about managing members energy rather than managing projects on their behalf. I am very lucky because we have a very diverse range members that has allowed me to work on many different projects such as large scale AD, Heat pumps, Wind Turbines through to Grid Balancing batteries. Working within the energy team for the past 5 years has also allowed me to be much more involved in the procurement of energy. From HH metering inc DC/DA elements all the way through to export contracts to allow sites to sell power back to the grid. I have recently introduced a new Energy Management system that will help the entire portfolio be more aware of their energy consumption through the use of an online portal. We have recently started to help members monetise the flexibility they have within their own consumption pattern, taking advantage of lower DUoS rates at other times of day. Its a great industry to work within although keeping up with current changes is almost a full time job in itself -
Technical DirectorSolar Essence Sep 2009 - Nov 2013Norwich, United KingdomResponsible for design and specification of all installations, Accredited EPC assessor. Managing the installations for various onsite teams. Also person responsible person for MCS accreditation.I initially joined the company to qualify in both Solar PV and Solar Thermal installations. After one year in the field I was promoted to Installation manager, responsible for organising daily work loads for up to 8 teams of engineers plus external contractors. I also liaised with end users and customers resolving technical queries' and if necessary sending out appropriate engineers to make repairs. After another year in the company I was promoted to Technical Director to over see all aspects of the design and installation of various renewable technologies -
Installation ManagerSmart Energy Sep 2006 - Sep 2009ColchesterWhen I joined the company I was responsible for installing various solar thermal systems providing hot water and also some space heating where possible. After two years learning about about the various systems I moved to design and surveying, which allowed me to try out new ways to intergrate these systems. I then became installation manager responsible for overseeing the installation teams dealing with fault finding and making sure things ran efficiently as possible -
Service Training ManagerHrm Boilers Ltd Jul 2005 - Sep 2006Norwich, United KingdomDuring my time at HRM Boilers I was responsible for providing technical advice and supporting the engineers in the field. During my time wit the company I rolled out a new CRM system and strengthened the network to keep up with a growing business. During my time with the company the whole product line had be updated in line with new condensing regulations which i was heavily involved with. My responsibilities also included running the training centre which ran several courses a month helping train engineers to both install and maintain our boiler systems. We also ran several product awareness and energy efficiency courses for anyone who wanted some more back ground knowledge in the oil and energy industry. -
Service ManagerHeatrae Sadia Sep 1994 - Jul 2005Norwich, United KingdomI joined Heatrae straight from college and after a short period within the service team I started a electrical qualification on day release to local technical college. After completing my City & Guilds 236 Part 2, I then started a two year plumbing apprenticeship with the senior service engineer formalising my training with various other qualifications such as CITB courses in plumbing and heating. I then replaced the senior service engineer when he retired and started working on site managing my own workload and stock of spares. After two years in the field I was promoted and started training other engineers. It was during this time that I started covering a larger area working in both Europe and Ireland supporting the export department by training engineers overseas and resolving any long standing problems. I was then promoted to Service Manager any my additional responsibilities included managing various contractors completing audits and helping the company with various mergers by taking responsibility of other service teams and integrating their workload and procedures into our own network.
