Shell Scotford

Shell Scotford is an integrated site containing: A Bitumen Upgrader, Refinery, Chemicals Plant and Power Plant. Each facility has specific regulatory guidelines; I focus on tracking, monitoring and reporting air and water emissions under these four license approvals. I ensure compliance with the CEMS Code, the Alberta Stack Sampling Code, Quality Assurance Plan and other internal guidelines. Along with reporting environmental impact internally, I also regularly report to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) and Environment Canada.

• Completed quantitative assessment regarding the distribution and prevalence of key rockweed species throughout the Bay of Fundy. Surveyed sites and analysed samples providing operational and environmental data.

Monitored the efficiency of the Waste water Treatment operations through effluent characterization study, coagulant and polymer effectiveness reviews, bio-treater microbiological analysis, tank sampling and analysis, influent water review, and baseline studies of effluent receiving waters.

• Provided interactive workshops to secondary students throughout the province increasing awareness of all Post-Secondary Education options.
