I think a well balanced, skilled labour force that is encouraged to develop and learn supports itself and leads to improved productivity, profit and service. When management isolate and exclude their staff this leads to resentment, disorganisation and poor results. Only by engagement with staff members and having the courage to relax your managerial grip on the reigns can those around you really give the manager the support and provide the employee with the outlook and confidence to take on and enjoy responsibility.Determination and success comes from persevering together through the tough times and failures and learning and becoming stronger from it, together; success will then come as a result.

PPL Voids has developed a skilled direct labour team who now consistently deliver in excess of 60% of all voids; all voids are post inspected, completed to a high quality, producing single figure post hand back issues and reducing subcontractor spend.The department is known to be helpful, open and transparent. Our process systems are trusted and help us challenge “in maintenance” inaccuracies and initiate new cross departmental reporting and improvements. The department has maintained 30% profitability over the last 2+ years.In Jan 2014 business development brought PPL its first external client, delivering 300 voids for London Borough of Hounslow Council. Voids were returned to Hounslow Homes whilst the ALMO is absorbed back into the Council. Project is initiated, mobilized and completed successfully for LBHC and profitably for PPL. This success not only provided additional profit in the 2nd trading year, but also provided PPL with its first reference to develop more external business. A2 now has a much closer relationship with LBHC and this has developed further business opportunities. In Apr 2015 PPL Voids begin delivery of A2D Planned Kitchen & Bathroom Programme using direct labour. This CDM project has been set up and mobilised and is now ongoing.I have had “outstanding” graded personal appraisals for the first two years of trading for PPL which reflect the successes of the Voids department and has resulted in a bonus scheme for the department.
