Specific duties and achievements during this period have included:Managing an internal team of professional engineers and external consultants with ownership of services delivery for mechanical services across property portfolio.Management of mechanical and sprinkler contractors involved in new store delivery programme and extension schemes including framework tender process.Responsible for new build and/or major refurbishments within the Morrison’s property portfolio including distribution centres, abattoirs, bakeries, food factories and new head office building.Converted 275 Safeway stores into Morrisons’ format (the largest ever retail conversion programme in the UK) in 18 months; worked closely with the Retail Operations team and external contractors to agree scope of work, costs and time-scales and managed project, quality and budgets.Played a major role in the team which built Morrisons new, state of the art, Bradford Head office managing a £12 million budget for the mechanical services element; included elements such as rain water recovery, recycling of waste heat and a comprehensive Building Management System (BMS). .Worked on a main board initiative to build a prototype ‘lean store’ at a cost of 30% below normal, identified key saving areas such as design and material specification changes ensuring all potential changes were discussed and agreed with internal stake-holders including retail operations, health and safety, finance before being presented to main board. As part of Morrisons CSR strategy, played a major role in developing and managing the build of the first “green store” in Peterborough; briefed designers and contractors, incorporated initiatives such as a solar wall, capture of refrigeration waste heat via a water source heat pump and rainwater recovery. This building achieved a BREEAM rating of “Excellent”. ..

Duties during this period included:Carrying out both design and project management of mechanical services installations for a wide range of public and private sector buildings.Managing a team of six mechanical services engineers with responsibility for design competency checks under a strict quality and assurance regime.Project management of refurbishment schemes for MOD and other government establishments throughout the UK.Won a major £5 million contract with Armitage Shanks to carry out a multi-disciplinary, turn-key factory extension. Programme managed all work-streams with internal and external stakeholders, whilst managing 6 engineers and numerous other projects.
