I graduated from Simmons College School of Social Work in 2009. I was hired by Somerville Mental Health in 2009 to work in the Psychiatric Day Treatment program with clients suffering from Psychiatric Disorders. This was a great first job because it allowed me the opportunity to work with a number of different populations. Through this position, I was also given the experience to supervise MSW interns. My clinical background includes over 5 years working in the Community Mental Health field and Substance abuse field. In my experience in the Mental Health field, I have been able to work with consumers both individually and in group setting. I also have experience working with older adult & geriatric populations as well as with client struggling with ongoing medical concerns. Through this experience, I have been able to work directly with families and individuals of diverse backgrounds. I have also worked in home based settings around setting goals and tracking progress towards goals. My case management and risk assessment skills have proved useful in my role as Prevention Social Worker because I feel confident assessing my own clients when they may be at risk. I am often able to monitor the level of risk and create a safety plan to decrease the risk.I currently work in a hospice care program assisting patients and families with end of life issues. I am passionate and excited about my work in the social work field. I plan to dedicate my career to assisting in improving the functioning of clients.
