About Stephen S. Burns

Started out in product development and direct response marketing at a small, cashflow dependent business where I earned what I like to call my "unofficial MBA". Ask me about it! Moved on to digital marketing at tech startup with insane email marketing budgets until the bubble popped. On to the largest scientific publisher in the world as it was undergoing a digital transformation. Within this highly-matrixed, global company I became a marketing operations & strategy leader. From there to a hyper-growth focused tech company about to undergo its own digital transformation on its way to adopting a SaaS model. Over the course of five years we transformed a small, sales-dominated marketing operations team into a modern B2B marketing operation ready to drive and support a rapid transformation of the marketing enterprise through technology, process, creation of an off shore CoE and effective change management leadership. We extended the newly established marketing data & analytics practice to deliver enterprise and master data management, unifying marketing, sales, service and finance data into single source of truth. My current challenge is to lead a step change in product development and drive accelerated revenue growth of a small business in the cybersecurity and U.S defense industries. If you catch me outside of work I'm talking to one of my 4 kids, studying theology, playing golf, reading, doing yoga, learning new stuff on YouTube or laughing at something. Sometimes doing more than one at a time if I'm lucky!
