Stephen ScalaIs aMusician, Painter, Chef, Writer.His maternal grandfather and grandmother were both musicians and he disgraced himself by running off with the violin player from the local senior citizens band. Scala is a classically trained guitarist who now specialises in his own form of Gypsy Jazz. Grandson of the first woman to attend the Victorian College of the Arts, there she met her Italian husband, also a painter and for the sake of love and to keep the peace in her family, both gave up practice of the painting art. His paternal grandfather then put his mind to the arts of blacksmithing and water divining. Scala studied art in Melbourne at what is now the University of Melbourne and was finished by renowned artist Jaqueline Black in France.As a chef of thirty years’ experience he was trained by an ex Maxim’s of Paris chef and son of an Algerian freedom fighter and French mother. He worked almost at the top of the pile in London and France for three years. Returning to Australia he did many years volunteering his skills then took to cheese making and charcuterie.A writer specialising in short stories of the surreal dreamscape of life that expose the human condition in its raw form. He has twenty two published books.
