🎯 Dedicated, energetic, and math storytelling, I like promoting math talks including interesting math history, anxiety, and successes. I love to talk with my students in and out of class.➡️ WHO I AM:With over nine years of experience as a physics and mathematics teacher, I am passionate about empowering learners with skills and abilities to be leaders and guardians of tomorrow's world. I use a student-centered and inquiry-based approach to learning, which enables learners to discover and explore their imaginations and potentials.▶️ WHAT I DO:As a physics and mathematics teacher, I value critical thinking and aim to provide students with the tools they need to analyze familiar and unfamiliar situations and solve problems. Students are unique individuals and learn in different ways; therefore, I am constantly looking into improving the quality of my teaching, utilizing different strategies and resources, including the use of technology, encouraging all students to use their strengths, and differentiating content, processes and assessments as much as possible, so all students are included in the learning and teaching that occurs in the classroom. ▶️ HOW I DO IT: When I teach, I focus on developing in my students a level of independence, and I believe the standards we set for them should allow for some productive struggle, with the right balance of challenge as to not discourage them. I strive to create a safe environment in the classroom where mistakes are celebrated as much as successes. It is also crucial for math teachers to collect data about what each student already knows and is capable of, and what kind of support they still need. ▶ HOW I CONTRIBUTE TO TEAM GOALSMy experience as Department Head has helped me develop skills in areas such as leadership, long-term planning, goal setting and collaboration. They have provided me with opportunities to take part in the decision-making process at my schools, allowing for a deeper understanding of how international schools function. I have also improved my communication skills with students, parents, colleagues and Senior leadership. ▶️ SPECIALTIES:✏️ Curriculum Development ✏️ Blended Teaching✏️ School Administration✏️ Student Assessment✏️ Department Management✏️ IB (DP and MYP), IGCSE, US Common Core Standards☑ With a diverse range of skills and unwavering dedication, I am committed to making a positive impact in the lives of my students and the community.☑ LET’S CONNECT:🤝 Send me a connect request-or-📧 shikukusteve@gmail.com-or-👉 Shoot me a message
