• Responsible for design integration between supplier and customer for Pearl700 and Pearl 10x projects. Mainly focused on the Apron and Fan Cowl Doors. This includes FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action Systems) which, during the development phase, required frequent contact with the supplier. With them the root cause of any reported failure had to be established and corrective action decided. This would ensure robust design quality going forward helps to achieve certification. • Assembly structure management using CATIA/3DX to deliver the supplier design data to the customer.

Design Engineer at BelcanMultiple design and design support roles for Rolls-Royce Deutschland including:Geometry controller for Power and Transmission Structure department. Ensuring that 3D CAD models are correctly configured and positioned within the Digital Mock Up (DMU).Design support for Externals/Installations department (2 years onsite AUG). This role required liaising with external suppliers and shop floor staff in order to validate and ensure the correct design and installation of the Engine Build Unit.Non-conformance component assessment and management for the Rotatives department.Design solution work for Casing including 3D Screen printing manufacturing concepts.Preparation and review of technical documentation and reports supporting design and certification.Extensive use of Teamcenter and Unigraphics NX9 has been required to model and plan assembly structures and new concept architecture. Transmissions & Drives/RotativesBased in the EKES off-site agency workpackage office I am supporting the Rolls-Royce Deutschland Rotatives department with design solutions for the latest engines. Presently I am working on the HPT Rotor Build and Balance solution. Previously I was involved with the development of the internal gearbox for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB 97k gas turbine engine. This involved liasing with various Rolls-Royce sites to establish the present design of the Trent XWB 84k and potential concepts that address problems and improvements that can be implemented into the latest design.Extensive use of Siemens NX was required to model and plan assembly structures of the new concept architecture.

Transmissions & DrivesWorking in a design support role. My responsibilities were mainly non-conformance management raised on a variety of different components within the Transmission and Drives department. The components were mainly gearbox casings, gears/splines, bearings, shafts and seals from engine programmes BR725, BR710, Tay and V2500. Liaising with specialists of several departments and suppliers was an essential part of this task as well as working to Rolls-Royce procedures and practices.Within this group I also achieved the Six Sigma yellow belt.

Rig/Instrumentation designDesign, detail and modeling work on for test rigs and instrumentation leading to the development of the new generation of Rolls-Royce gas turbine engines.Working on test rig projects for other companies such as Siemens and MAN.Working on engine projects such as:TP400 HPC Rig instrumentation. Working on A380 wing testing rigs. The rigs were designed to load test wing structures to destruction. Instrumentation schemes were required to instruct the positioning of strain gauge on sample billets to test for tensile strength.

Rig, Test and Instrumentation department Producing detail drawings and rig/instrumentation schemes for various projects including BR715 (Large scale test rig) and Tay gas turbines.

This assignment involved the designing, modeling and detailing of inner wing structures including ribs, skin panels and associated brackets.I was also supporting the air duct system design within the propulsion team using CADDS 5 in Explicit and Parametric disciplines (2300+ hours).

747 Electrical Physical DesignIn this department I was involved with fuselage cable installations and modifications in the 747 airplane.This was mainly custom designs for the individual customer's requirements. For example - Video- On-Demand for Japanese Airlines. I designed the rack to support the video machines and cables.With this contract I had 2000+ hours of CATIA V4 usage with solid modeling and assembly design.I was required to configure parts and administer paperwork according to Boeing procedures.

I worked on producing detail drawings of components for the static front end of gas turbine engines for 1 year after finishing my apprenticeship. For the rest of the time I worked in the Rig and Instrumentation Office producing design schemes and detail drawings. I undertook CADDS 4X and 5X training (Solid Modeling, NURBS and Parametrics) acquiring over 5000+ hours usage.There was a requirement to provide technical assistance to immediate supervision and to check other drafters work.Liaisons with other departments such as design, configuration, personnel and fitting were often needed, good communication being essential.The projects worked on were RB211-535, Trent 700 , V2500, BR710, BR715
