Geologic Advisor, Gulf of Mexico

Lead technical representative for joint ventures including JDA producing 1BCF/day. Attend technical meetings and take responsibility for reserves estimates, budgeting, planning, short term production forecasts and technical decisions.

Working with high resolution seismic attributes, create models and field development plans based on recent appraisal data in North Malay Basin. Determine reserve and resource base, progress plan of development through regulatory and internal value processes, and defend reserve/resource adds across the asset.

Hire, mentor and evaluate national staff and younger expat staff. Provide geolgic support in a complex and important asset. Support in the form of interpretation, characterization, mapping, modeling, operations and surveillance. Additionally, support new business venture group for SE Asia in evaluation of new potential projects. Deliver high quality dynamic models using Petrel, RMS, GOCad, EarthVision and other appropriate tools to best characterize the target asset. Teach and mentor on the proper ways of construction and QC of the models and how to make sure they are "fit for purpose". Work directly with reservoir engineering to iterate and maximize the support of those dynamic models to shorten project times and meet deadlines.

Provide geologic oversight of 3D modeling efforts for a group of large green fields being brought online. As the only geologic advisor my role spanned all aspects of geologic support from model construction and mapping to geosteering 24/7 to designing integrated data systems and processes for advanced surveillance activitiy.

Over 10 years of running my own consutling company, I was fortunate to work on a vast spectrum of projects and with G&G + RE teams from many different small to large producers in San Juaquin Valley. Efforts included construction of 3D geo models for drilling target improvement, dynamic simulation and advanced integrated surveillance activity. Projects included steam floods, WAG, multi-frac horizontals, horizontals in thin pay zones and small heat fronts, Co2 pilot, ASP pilot, N2 pilot and N2 project, gravity drainage infill drilling (chasing the oil band) and business development as far away as Bogota Colombia.

Work in the Denver consulting group to build full field models for clients around the world including PDVSA, Ecopetrol, PEMEX, KOC and many others. Also supported engineering operations of Department of Energy at NPR1, Elk Hills CA. Many projects started with rooms full of boxes with paper logs. Our mission, to digitize, characterize and construct static and dynamic simulation models. These projects were never easy reservoirs and required allot of precision to complicated details. I worked with some of the industry best geologists and engineers.
