Worked as a Sales Engineer and assisted with proposal development, cost analysis, and risk assessment for future projects. Our division of Black Box Government Services was sold to Arlington Capital Group in August of 2018, but the team remained the same. My daily responsibilities typically involved assessing bid documents, analyzing drawings and specified system requirements. I was also responsible for researching new products and working with manufacturer's engineers to determine the best solution to meet the customer requirements. Once all of the data had been analyzed and the best solution was determined, it was my responsibility to solicit quotes from distributors, draw up a detailed scope of work, drawing package, product line drawings and white papers explaining the proposed solution. Toward the end of my time with Tyto Athene, I was becoming very proficient in writing detailed proposals for potential contracts under our SLED department.

My responsibilities were extensive as I was tasked with building a team to handle the mounting workload from our customers. Having the experience in the field prior to this position afforded me the opportunity to work in both a sales position writing scopes of work and quotes and a field engineering position assisting with the programming, setup, configuration and deployment of electronic security IP based systems. I was often working under extreme conditions and short timelines to produce these systems for critical environments that required excessive security measures due to the nature of the facilities I was tasked with supporting. I gained significant experience in working with Dell R series servers, Honeywell Maxpro VMS and NVR Platforms, as well as Layer 2 Networking for Campus Area Networks tied into a state wide area network. I was also tasked with creating a management spreadsheet and living documents to maintain command and control of all end point devices. Other systems under my umbrella of responsibility included perimeter access control systems, intrusion detection systems, mass notification and intercom SIP systems.

Started out as a field technician and worked into the role of sales and project engineer, responsible for designing and managing multiple information technology and electronic security system deployments. I successfully designed, configured and installed many communication systems using IP and analog technologies and covered the following systems. Network Infrastructure using Fiber Optics, UTP cable, Wireless, Electronic Security, IP Cameras using VMS and NVR platforms from multiple manufacturers, Perimeter Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Duress, Mass Notification as well as Intercom and integrated SIP communications. I received and maintained my BICSI ITS Technician Certification while in this role and medalled in the BICSI Cabling Skills Challenge in Baltimore.
