As I've grown in the industrial HVAC business, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people. To me that's one of the best things about this line of work. Not only is knowing what you're talking about in the field of expertise is important, but the phsycological part of the industry. Learning how to interact with people is probably the hardest part of the job. To me, it's the best part. Figuring people out, realizing that you can't approach all people the same. It's amazing the success you can have just by building a mutual understanding and trust with people. The relationships you build take a long time but once you have them, it makes your job a lot less stressful. The knowledge I've gained working for an OEM, well two OEM's, is second to none. The factory training, the new construction commissioning, the intercompany relationships you build has been a great experience that I think all service professionals should experience to grow themselves.My work experiences are primarily chilled water systems and associated equipment, primarily water and air cooled chillers. Not only do we work on our equipment (York) we work daily on other manufactures equipment ie. Carrier, Trane etc. I have been tasked responsibility to run projects from $50,000 retrofits to $500,000 installs with great success. My duties as a foreman have grown my capabilites in the management and sales roles. I have worked with sales or by myself in selling over $1,000,000 a year in project retrofits or service related business for our branch. After the sale, I work closely with my team to execute this work profitably and to the customers increasing expectations.
