As a Senior Telecommunicator at Danville Fire Department, I am responsible for answering and dispatching emergency calls, providing pre-arrival instructions, and coordinating with other agencies. I have been certified in VCIN, EMD, EFD, and EPD, and I also serve as a Communications Training Officer. I was promoted to this position in Feb 2024, after working as an Emergency Dispatcher for more than three years.Before joining Danville Fire Department, I had a 20-year plus career in the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, where I worked as a Correctional Officer, Case Manager, Hostage Negotiator, and PREA Investigator. I also have a background in firefighting and emergency medical services, having volunteered as a firefighter and worked as an EMT and ER tech. In addition to my emergency services skills, I am also passionate about public education and outreach. I have presented at several conferences on topics related to 911 communications, gang prevention, and social media management. I am also a graphic designer and a member of the VA APCO Training Committee and the VA NENA Legislative Committee. Recent;ly completed the APCO CTO Instructor Course.
