Positions included:Contractor lead for the Office of Biometric Management (OBIM) effort to create a prototype that will be used to specify the architecture and interfaces for the IDENT system to use a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), drawing on my proven experience acquired within CBP Trusted Traveler. This architecture relies heavily on TIBCO BusinessWorks as well as TIBCO EMS to provide access to legacy systems relying on a messaging interface and is being built using the latest Java EE 7 technologies.Lead Architect for CBP’s Trusted Traveler Programs, included Global Entry (GE), Global Enrollment System (GES), the Portable Automated Lookout Systems (PALS), and Automated Passport Control (APC). Architect for DHS CBP Global Enrollment System (GES) 4.0, a J2EE web replacement for an existing client-server application for managing enrollment in trusted traveler programs. Lead for the Business Tier of the INS STARS program, ENFORCE Removal Module (EREM), a J2EE web replacement for an existing client-server application for managing the INS removal processTechnical lead for Telemetry Tracking & Control (TT&C) software development for Global Positioning System (GPS) Launch/Early Orbit, Anomaly resolution, Disposal and routine operations (LADO).

TechTrader was a biz-to-biz startup. I worked on the original Java Data Objects (JDO) implementation, including writing the original Java Query Language (JQL) parser. This later evolved into OpenJPA after the technology was acquired by Solarmetric, later acquired by BEA, later acquired by Oracle.

System architect and technical lead of the Tracker 2000 project, for the Nonproliferation and Disarmament Fund (NDF).

Manager and Chief Architect (12/96 - 11/97) for the NMD High Fidelity System Simulation (HFSS). HFSS was developed in support of Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) for the National Missile Defense (NMD) Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO). Designed and oversaw implementation of the integrated database, simulation, and user interface architecture for this 100,000 line, object-oriented C++/Java physics-based distributed (using CORBA) simulation.Developed HFSS Software Project Management Plan, Configuration Management Plan, C+ coding standards.Introduced use of UML and Rational tools for software development.Provided mentoring in object-oriented design, configuration management, and C++ development.Authored description of TRW’s object-oriented systems engineering procedures.Guided project in plan to move from CMM level 2 to level 3.Designed and implemented event-driven simulation architecture, and many of the system models, including kinematic and dynamic models, environmental models (including gravitation and atmosphere models), and initial radar models.Served as project Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) representative to TRW SIG.Evaluated use of HLA and other distributed computing architectures.Previously served as lead for NMD SE&I Object Model Simulation (3/96 - 12/96) and as lead for the Systems Engineering Development Database (11/95 - 3/96), an object-oriented repository for all systems engineering data.

Principal Engineer for the Onboard Navigation group in support of NASA’s Space Shuttle program.Functioned as the prime contractor’s liaison between the software users and subcontractor developers.Led the first two object-based and object-oriented software reengineering projects within the company, including personally developing a modern C++ physics framework which became the foundation for major new business for Rockwell (and which still later formed the core of TRW’s development of HFSS). Results of these projects were presented at OOPSLA ‘94 and OOPSLA ‘95. Designed the event-driven simulation framework and many of the physics and environmental models, including Earth and gravitational models, and oversaw development of other environmental and sensor models including radar and TDRS.Co-authored Johnson Space Center Mission Operations Directorate (MOD) Fortran/C coding standards.

Programmer/analyst (9/86 - 3/87) in support of Hubble Space Telescope ground software development.Analyst/programmer (4/81 - 9/86) in support of NASA Johnson Space Center’s Mission Planning and Analysis Division. Participated in development of postflight navigation software and Shuttle simulation software using for test and performance evaluation. Primary author of system’s sensor models, including rendezvous radar and optical sensors.
