It is my privilege to direct and bring greater engagement in this often misunderstood form of policy, education, advocacy, program and intervention. Strategic partnerships mirrored with innovation will allow us to have greater impact in the various communities throughout Manitoba. Ensuring that we take advantage of all funding avenues and are current and creative in our communication are critical to our sustainability and growth. Leaders transform people and environments but first must transform themselves to evolve new personal mind-sets and behaviours. Secondly, they need to transform their teams to work in new ways. Lastly, leaders need to build capabilities by building agility into the design and culture of the organization. (Smelt, Laurie and St. George). I have accepted an additional responsibility of giving leadership to our youth mental health promotion unit. Ensuring MB youth are learning mental health literacy and reducing stigma so more young people have opportunities to engage with helping coping strategies when experiencing stressors.

The MHCC has completed their 2 year research with the goal of creating a Psychological Health & Safety Standard for Post Secondary Students & Campuses. My role will be to create a community of practice to engage all MB colleges and universities to engage in adapting the recommendations from the MHCC’s report that is scheduled to be shared in the Fall 2019.
