With over 14 years of work experience in various operational and training roles, I am currently a passionate and skilled technical instructor at General Dynamics Land Systems, where I train military personnel on how to operate and maintain the Stryker family of vehicles.I have a strong background in military operations, having served in the US Army as a heavy equipment operator and a leader. I am motivated by the mission of providing the best possible training and support to our customers, and I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team from my Christian ministry studies and my previous railroad work.In my current role, I am responsible for learning all the common and unique components of the Stryker vehicles, and for delivering effective and engaging training to soldiers on how to use these vehicles confidently and efficiently. I also assess the prior knowledge and skills of the trainees, and tailor the training to their specific needs and goals. I use my new hire training, leadership, and communication skills to create a positive and supportive learning environment, and to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. I am proud to be part of a team that contributes to the success and readiness of our military forces.

Technical Instructor

Current

United States

Here at General Dynamics my job is to first become a trainer with the knowledge and skill to go wherever the military calls us and effectively train today's soldiers on how to confidently and efficiently utilize the Stryker family of vehicles. This includes learning all the common components found on every Stryker but also the unique MEP components that are specific to that group's mission. As stated my first job is to become a trainer and after passing my initial certification and becoming a Technical Instructor, my second job is to go train our customers on the vehicles being issued to them. Here we are in charge of about 4 students on each vehicle. We gather information on prior training to assess the level of knowledge they possess if any. Then we are able to facilitate the proper level of training needed per individual within the four person group. We do drivers training with all the vehicles and weapons training with some of the vehicles.Lastly, my job is to continue learning more as we have multiple variations of the Stryker vehicle but also I have helped train new hires in their journey to becoming certified instructors as well. This allows for me personally to stay up on how I teach, when we have no classes going on.

Machine Operator

Bnsf Railway

United States

As a railroad employee I worked as a team member in MOW, our job included prepping for work by getting measurements and rail size as well as taking into consideration any hazards or disturbance to the city and towns we work within. Planning joint operations with other departments and scheduling with the transportation dispatcher to get time to do the work.Pre-positioning material via section trucks, dump trucks or flatbed trucks. Our job was to fix defective track, from old tie replacement to a defective rail being replaced. We did big projects as well, replacing yard and mainline switches, to putting in an entirely new stretch of mainline or yard track. Within my time as a railroad employee, I gained knowledge of FRA standards and had to do an annual FRA refresher course.I also went to school to learn the Jackson 6700 track tamper, I received my qualifications as Brandt truck operator and knowledge of moving rail cars, as well as a crane operator, and I am a qualified Class B truck driver.

Military

United States

In my almost 8 years of service I've served as a team member learning my basic level soldier skills. Through many training ops, I've built leadership and teamwork skills that I've carried throughout my career and beyond. I believe I excelled in my abilities to gather information or obtain information and retain that information that as a young private I was placed in position to lead my peers. I have been a platoon guide back in basic and AIT so leadership roles came natural for me. But I learned how to be an effective speaker and how to delegate while ensuring the mission was completed to standard. In my time as an engineer in the Army, my MOS as a heavy equipment operator taught me basic knowledge of using construction equipment. But most of my time in the army, I was attached to a light infantry unit and I was cross-trained as a combat engineer. Within that training I learned how to deploy explosives for demolition, clear fields of possible mines and other explosive ordinances. This includes going to school to be trained up on route clearance techniques using the various route clearance vehicles we had. Before ending my career, I made it to the rank of Sergeant. I was the team leader for my squad, but I also held the position of squad leader while the position was waiting to be filed. As a young PFC I was placed in the role of the Platoon Sergeant as we had just stood up our unit and were waiting for personnel to fill the roster. In these times that I was given more responsibility, it helped shape me as a person and as a leader. I was given the responsibility over a minimum of four team members in a squad up to forty members in a platoon size element.
