Policing has always been a calling and never a job for me., throughout my 40 years of policing I can honestly say I have never had to go to work a day in my life., I get to go and serve others while working alongside the most amazing men and women in first responder roles. Together we exist to serve others, and ultimately police exist to keep everyone as safe and secure as possible, and to bring the worst of offenders to our justice system. Starting in Halton for my first 16 years I had the opportunity to work in uniform patrol, CIB, Tactical Team, Criminal intelligence, training, and as a forensic polygraph examiner within our Homicide and major crime office.I then had an opportunity to serve as a Deputy chief in Guelph Ontario, and Belleville before becoming the Chief of Belleville in January 2002, the Chief of Kingston PF in 2008 and returning as the Chief of Halton in 2012 a position I have now held for 10 years. Totalling 20+ years as Chief I am now the longest currently serving Police CHief in Canada. My role is to support the dedicated sworn and civilian men and women on our front lines and to ensure they have all they require to perform their duties in an adequate and effective and exemplary manner. Year after year those same people keep the Region of Halton the safest large municipality in all of Canada. Thank you to each of them for all that they do. I also have the honour of being the Chair of the Criminal Intelligence of Onatrio (CISO) and to sit on the national executive of CISC., as well as co chairing the National Police Services National Advisory Committee and sitting on several other provincial and national Criminal Intelligence bodies. Policing is a love and I am thankful for each and every day I have the honour of being amongst the many tremendous men and women who carry on the rich history of our profession.
