As a hydrologist with 29 years of professional experience, I have extensive background on the characterization and evaluation of environmental conditions, as well as conducting research for Army facilities and training lands. I have managed and performed numerous HTRW (Hazardous Toxic and Radioactive Waste) studies and remedial projects for DoD training facilities. I have performed numerous Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) evaluations under the Clean Water Act Regulations that included surface water sampling, data set evaluation, and surface water modeling using the GSSHA model and the WMS pre- and post-processor. I have also completed groundwater studies using the GMS pre- and post-processor and FEMWATER groundwater model for the Installation Restoration Program (IRP) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations, as well as conducted field investigations to evaluate the impacts of application of sewage effluent for irrigation.
  • Waterways Experiment Station/Erdc
    Senior Hydrologist
    Waterways Experiment Station/Erdc Sep 1996 - Apr 2001
For Dole Food Properties, Waialua, Hawaii – Installed and sampled lysimeters for nitrates, total dissolved solids, pesticides (atrazine), pharmaceuticals, endocrine receptors (estrogen and estradiol), and plastic compounds N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA). Created 3-D groundwater flow and solute transport model using the Groundwater Modeling System (GMS) and FEMWATER code. For Schofield Army Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii prepared an effluent reuse application and groundwater impact analysis for the U.S. Army Garrison– Hawaii. Performed a FEMWATER groundwater model using the GMS (Groundwater Modeling System) pre-and post-processor. To evaluate the potential impacts of moving 10% or 20% of the pumping to Helemano Military Reservation. Used the parallel FEMWATER code was used at the ERDC DoD Distributed Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC).As part of the Crandon Mine (Rhinelander, WI) EIS performed wetlands impacts analysis for the St. Paul District Corps of Engineers (COE), St. Paul, MN. Created large groundwater flow model to evaluate the potential decreases in wetland areas due to groundwater flowing into the mine’s open pit. Calculated acreage of wetlands impacted for the wildlife biologists. Developed geologic formation surfaces, geologic solids, and detailed geologic cross sections using the GMS code with available data. Prepared reports and presented results to Native American Tribe representatives, and numerous State and Federal Government Agencies as part of the EIS process. For Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland - Developed groundwater models of the Nike Site and Cluster 13 to assist in designing pollution cleanup programs using the MODFLOW model and GMS pre- and post-processor.
  • Harding Lawson Associates Now Mactec

Harding Lawson Associates Now Mactec Dec 1991 - Sep 1996
Task manager of a multi-year Remedial Investigation (RI) for compli¬ance under EPA’s Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) program (commonly known as SUPERFUND). Supervised a field-testing program that incorporated an in situ air permeability test, well installation, hydraulic testing, and groundwater sampling to evaluate potential pollution of solvents (TCE) in drinking water supplies. Conducted computer modeling using the GMS and FEMWATER codes to evaluate the number of wells required for a potential pump-and-treat system and estimated travel times of contaminants to down-gradient wells. Prepared reports and presented results to EPA, The Army, State of Hawaii Department of Health, and the Public. Responded to comments from the public and regulatory agencies.
