Stephen Tutin work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Project Manager - Bay Hydrogen Hub
An up to £15m project across 5 consortium members, including £6.1m of government funding. I produced the government bid, and the EDF Investment Case, which together sucessfully secured the funding. I am project managing the entire project and have pulled together the team to deliver it. Currently I am managing the project throughout its FEED stage, and am preparing for FID at the end of 2023.
Project Manager - Hartlepool Heat Hub
A £500k government funded feasability study, exploring deployment an Advanced Modular Reactor. Over 50 people contributed to the project across 4 workstreams: Reactor Evaluation; End User Analaysis; Site Assessment; Delivery Model.
Transformation Project Manager
The re-organisation of EDF Nuclear Generation Investment Delivery function (which included over 100 employees), from project initiation through to closeout. Included extensive stakeholder management.
Reactor Physics & Criticality Engineer
Following a few project management roles, I returned to my substantive technical role, now also including some Fuel Management. By this time I had aquired numerous other responsibilities including:- Chairing the EDF Energy Young Professionals' Network (with a peak committee size of 30, and over 800 other members). - Chairing the Wiki Strategic Group, and Business Owner for the Wiki. - Reactor Analysis Working Group Responsible Engineer and Technical Secretary
Project Manager - Human Factors (Hpc) Issues Resolution
Human Factors was one of the most significant risks to the HPC engineering programme (aka a ‘sensitive point’). The scope of my role was broad and left somewhat for me to define. I systematically identified and the issues and agreed an action plan to address them. Using this method, I resolved long standing disagreements (i.e. 2+ years) across multiple teams. I also identified £1m+ of scope that could be removed from the human factors programme. I participated in discussions with the regulator, preparing slides and coaching the team to get a positive outcome.
Project Manager (Software) - Reactor Physics Workbench
Due to my sucess as an assitant project manager, I took over the project as the primary PM. I delivered the project on time and within budget, despite years of challenges prior to my involvement and it previously being on the verge of being cancelled. I sucessfully handed over the project to business as usual.
Assistant Project Manager (Software) - Reactor Physics Workbench
I joined the project initally to coordinate the software testing, but pro-actively supported the project manager in many ways, such as holding discussions with stakeholders across the IT Team and addressing their concerns. As a result I was acknowledged as an assitant project manager.
Degree Apprentice (Reactor Physics Group)
I joined EDF Energy straight from my A-Levels as a degree apprentice within the Reactor Physics team, primarily focusing on Nuclear Criticality & Software Engineering. I undertook tasks including criticality safety analysis, computer modelling, scripting on Linux, creating software documentation, software testing, and implementing software updates for EDF's wiki.
