Although my primary duties are to maintain department social-media accounts and to be department spokesperson on issues related to elections and Kentucky politics, I also generate publicity for the department and other individual faculty members in coordination with College and University publicity staff. I help journalists find the sources they need.

My primary responsibility at UK is publishing Political Science RESEARCH in visible peer-reviewed disciplinary venues, including both articles and books. Secondarily, I TEACH courses from the freshman level all the way to the advanced graduate level. My subjects include quantitative methods, American government, legislative process, civil liberties.

• I've been a consultant in elections-based litigation (redistricting & voting rights), in auto-liability cases based on quantitative risk analysis, and in a variety of studies related to policy analysis. Some examples:
• Consultant & Expert witness, Callais v. Landry, Louisiana redistricting litigation (2023)
• Consultant & Expert witness, Graham v. Adams, Kentucky's redistricting litigation (2022)
• Consultant, Nemes v. Bensinger, Kentucky voting-rights case (2020)
• Consultant for the Kentucky Transportation Center, leading a statistical analysis of lock & dam delays for a research report they produced on inland waterways (ended 2014).
• Consultant, analyst for Zooknic Inc dealing with Internet domain pricing & e-commerce (off and on).

Unpaid position that involved going into the TV studio, mostly on Election nights, and recording live, elections-related segments with the station's anchors.

Acting associate chair from 2011-2012, while the position was being finalized; officially served in the role from 2012-2014. The job's unique responsibility was to serve as curriculum coordinator, but post also involved executive/planning and crisis management responsibilities delegated or shared by the Department Chair.

I apprenticed for this position from 2003-2005, as assistant DUS and then co-DUS, and then held the position along through this time period except for two breaks in 2007-2008 (for a sabbatical) and 2010-2011 (because it was someone else's turn).

Although an intern reporter rather than a regular staff member, I regularly wrote news stories that went over the Gannett Wire, usually to be published in the Times at Shreveport and in the Monroe News-Star, although occasionally elsewhere in the Gannett newspapers chain (e.g., USA Today).
