In 2004 D1D was, the newest and most technologically advanced FAB in the world. D1D is a completely automated FAB utilizing wafer handling and tool-to-tool wafer delivery robotics. Robots traveled around the FAB on an overhead track network delivering wafers from one tool to the next for processing. Worked in the back-end thin-films dielectric group sustaining Novellus, ASM, and AMAT 300 mm wafer processing deposition tools. I helped install and qualify nine new wafer processing tools in three different thin films areas including six CVD, one CDO dielectric, and two titanium deposition tools in the D1D FAB.

Designed and fabricated new laser testing tools to test high powered semiconductor Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) lasers. In 2003 Nlight produced the highest output power semiconductor lasers in the world. Nlight cannibalized Nortel and Lucent laser manufacturing tools, bought on e-Bay for their internal system components including spectrometers, power supplies, and device handling robotics. The cannibalized components were repurposed to build new testing tools designed for Nlight lasers. The new testing tools were shipped to China for new product launches and manufacturing capability.

Also repaired RADAR, URT-23 1 kW transmitter, and its assorted antennas used in the ships communication systems.
