As Chairman of Austcham Shanghai, (2007-2010) Stephen White represented the Australian business community during an exciting period in Shanghai, including World Expo, Shanghai. The World Expo 2010, highlighted Austcham Shanghai as a key stakeholder in the future of Australia/China business relations and accordingly raised its profile both locally and in Australia. This also included the signing of the following key MOUs, which have formed the basis of the future direction of Australian business by providing a formal process to unify the Australian business community both across China and the region:Austcham Greater China (AGC): A new national peak body of Australian Chambers of Commerce which provided a unified voice for their members, including the 1800 companies which they represent. Founded by the Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong/Macau Chambers of Commerce to provide a focus for advocacy and networking in national and international affairs.Australian Business Asia (ABA): ABA is the umbrella which provides a collective voice on critical advocacy issues involving Australian business groups across the region. It also provides a platform for joint activities, reciprocal arrangements and for exchange of information and ideas between the member groups.Represents Australian Chambers of Commerce and Business Councils in 16 countries across Asia.Stephen White had the privilege of advising the Australian Minister for Trade, Mr Simon Crean, of the MOU for the establishment the ABA during his visit to Shanghai in 2010.Australian Pavilion, Shanghai World Expo 2010 - Austcham Shanghai Associate Partnership Agreement
