I explored strategies to extend the lifetime of inexpensive iron materials used in high-temperature oxidation and reduction processes, which include applications like iron-based batteries or carbon capture and sequestration. I trained and managed several younger researchers, initiated new collaborations, and wrote numerous proposals to support various projects within my work.I enjoyed hosting speakers and organizing events for the Northwestern Energy Technology Group, and sharing exciting science with retirees through the Science Policy Outreach Taskforce.

In a tech startup environment, I led a variety of projects supporting R&D, engineering, production, and sales.• Designed and performed destructive pack tests (nail penetration) to investigate effect of phase change materials on thermal runaway propagation in lithium ion batteries.• Managed characterization and lifetime testing of Li-ion cells, used test data to create predictive models for battery temperature and lifetime capacity fade, and developed software modeling tools to guide engineering and sales teams.• Led IP discussions, authored Small Business Innovation Research proposal, and managed and trained 7 interns.• Represented company at the Battery Show (Novi, MI) 2014 & 2015.

• Provided guidance on design and layout of mechanical, electrical, and gas flow system installations.• Coordinated with 3 building contractors, research group, and university to meet requirements and timeline.

• Investigated solid oxide materials for producing chemical fuels from concentrated solar power.• Drafted and managed a 12-month project timeline for constructing two new lab test stations, with a total budget of $120,000 per station.
