As the SPM Distribution Network Manager, I form part of the Scottish Power Energy Networks, Network Planning and Regulation team. Responsible for the Management of the Distribution Network (LV - 132kV) developing and updating relevant strategies, policies and plans for the SPM/SPD networks to minimise safety, environmental, system and economic risk. Maximising the performance of the distribution system expected by our customers and stakeholders, whilst maximising returns in both the short and long term. Managing a team of both Asset and System Design Engineers responsible for the development of individual programmes of work and design of complex projects including asset modernisation, major new connections and network reinforcement.

Leading the Asset Management team, developing policy, procedures and investment programmes to ensure a safe and reliable network.

Responsible for the design, development, delivery and evaluation of all technical training within the Scottish Power business' for both SP Energy Networks, SP Generation and SP Renewables (on-shore and off-shore). Including the development and delivery of High Voltage Operational and Refresher training and Assessments for external customers eg. EGA in the UAE. Providing consultancy and technical development of standards and policies for the Scottish Power business', whilst continually monitoring and reviewing all training delivery methods to ensure quality and compliance. Representing Scottish Power at the 'Head of Training' meetings in collaboration with the National Skills Academy for Power.

Managing a large portfolio of licensed connection's from conception through to delivery for both large commercial and residential developments up to 20MVA.

Senior Authorised Project Management work up to and including 33kV. Work including construction and commissioning of both unit protected and non-unit protected distribution networks.

Construction of both unit protected and non-unit protected substations, fulfilling the role of both a Cable Jointer and Electrical Fitter. Providing training and mentoring of new apprentices throughout their Scottish Power training programme.
