About Stephen Woods

As the Sustainability Manager of AS Watson UK, I am responsible for creating and implementing the sustainability strategy across the following UK retail brands; Superdrug, Savers, The Perfume Shop and Three Retail.Energy Management is a core part of my roll with year or year absolute energy reductions delivered across the Superdrug brand since 2010. This, in turn, has led to our reduction in our CRC obligations.During this period I have assessed the risks in relation to businesses energy consumption and delivered a strategy to mitigate this both in terms of energy consumption and energy procurement, delivering flexible procurement for electricity in 2013. The energy reduction projects that have been delivered have been developed from feasibility to procurement to project management. These projects include smart metering and lighting upgrades across the Superdrug retail portfolio and full lighting upgrade programs for the two Regional Distribution Centres.Waste and Recycling Management is also an important part of my roll with a full back haul process in place for Superdrug and Savers. This process enables us to achieve high levels of waste segregation and recycling across the business. In 2014 we moved to 100% diversion from landfill from operational waste.The successes that we have achieved are born from our non trade procurement activities which have enabled us to partner with organisations that have added value and expertise in key strategic areas.We continue to develop our future strategy to mitigate future risk in a changing market and deliver on going success to the business.
