Leading the D&L team in all aspects of education at Edinburgh Zoo, Highland Wildlife Park and across Scotland.Innovative programmes and ideas for educational engagement with diverse audiences both on and off site - eg. interpretation design, talks and events, summer schools, school conferences, outreach bus etc.Engaging with partners and securing funds for educational work for the Society.Reporting and representing the Society and promoting the role of education in conservation at meetings and conferences nationally and internationally.

Responsible for the full scope of interpretation from concept, through planning to design and creation.Created new interactive interpretation for different exhibits at both Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park, in particular for tigers, Japanese macaques, polar bears, penguins and an extensive new build chimpanzee exhibit, Budongo Trail.Additionally was involved in site planning and development and contributing towards other projects, and overseeing creation of new species identification signage, zoo map and use of sculpture and live presentation to engage different audiences.

Responsible for all aspects of education at Dudley Zoo and for Dudley Castle.Redeveloped the schools education programme in line with the National Curriculum and doubled the schools attendance in 12 months.Redeveloped the grade 2 listed education centre building into a functional classroom space and public exhibition/engagement area with a very limited budget.Established a zoo volunteer programme and initiated additional public activities using volunteers, and also use volunteers to assist the redesign and decoration (incl original art work).Created a new on site talks programme for the Zoo and initiated new educational and public activities for the Castle.Contributed to site development and planning as a member of the senior management team.

Directly involved in creating new and innovative education programmes and activities from 1989 through to 2003.Involved in zoo design and planning with particular emphasis upon education and visitors through interpretation and design of major new exhibits - Bug World, Twilight World, Gorilla Island, Wallace Aviary, Seal & Penguin Coasts and the Conservation Education Centre.Involved in staff management, strategy and planning.Head of the Zoo's Millennium Awards native species conservation programme (1999-2003) enabling 40 local people to carry out conservation projects in the South West.Created teachers resources associated with lesson programmes and curriculum.Represented the zoo at national and international meetings.
