  STEPHEN YAFFE is a screenwriter and playwright. A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, his plays have been produced in New York City (Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theater [working with David Warrilow] and elsewhere. He's a recipient of a William Morris and two John Golden Fellowships in Playwriting and as a Connecticut State Commission on the Arts Individual Artist Grant.He collaborates with his wife, Barbara Vaccaro. Lloyd Richards wrote of his “personal admiration [of their talents] and the combination of craftsmanship and soul at the heart of … [their] work.” Their plays have been produced in New York City (The National Arts Club, Rattlestick Theater, Circle East) . They are recipients of the Joyce Carol Oates Playwriting/Mentoring Fellowship.Predominantly screenwriters, they are working on a number of film scripts, all thrillers. Their first screenplay was short listed in a major international screenplay competition. They have two films in development. His professional development (PD) has been praised as "brave, visionary, smart" (Corp of Public Broadcasting). He's mentored classroom teachers, teaching artists and arts administrators in inclusive practices nationally, served as the VSA/The Kennedy Center Teaching Artist Fellows coach and provided PD to those working in the field of disability on five continents. He conducted a needs assessments of the New York State Council on the Arts' Arts-In-Education Program and one of arts education for students with disabilities in New York City Public Schools (VSA). Stephen is a co-founder and the Chair of the Arts for All Abilities Consortium, the 2018 VSA NYC Arts Advocate of the year, and serves on the Arts Committee to the Panel on Educational Policy (PEP), New York City Department of Education.
