  • Kroger Transportation Center
    Logistics Intern
Kroger Transportation Center May 2015 - Jul 2015
    Nashville, Tennessee
As the very first intern for the Kroger Transportation Center since their consolidation in 2012, I was tasked with the responsibilities of managing a division in the retail department, completing a project, and learning the different functions of the Kroger Company on a high level basis. My daily activity of managing the Mid-Atlantic lane for the retail division at the KTC involved mediating communication between buyers, carriers, and the distribution centers. This revolved around tendering backorders from retailers through Krogers broad logistical capability. The project's focus was to create a comprehensive process to allow for all Overages, Shortages, and Damages to be managed at the DC level, accurately and efficiently, aligned with the concept of lean continuous improvement. Once implemented, it would allow for the relocation of resources towards more profitable ventures, allowing Kroger to cut waste and costs, boosting their over value and stakeholder trust in the company. The high level overview of the different aspects of the company ranged from the functional levels of supply chain management down to store operations.
