About Stephen R. Abernathy
Throughout my career my focus has been to help people have equitable access to mobility options and to be an advocate for effective public transport. My experience in planning, transit service planning, developing general plans, regional plans and transportation management plans in the public and private sectors has benefitted urban and rural residents.I have extensive experience in designing and implementing public transport service, public involvement techniques as well as survey design and analysis. The true hallmark of my experience is developing, establishing and maintaining collaborative public and private partnerships.Developing and nurturing these partnerships and working with programs across the US, in my role I assisted in obtaining $29-$36M in federal operating assistance grants annually through successful grant writing, program management and service delivery of scheduled, fixed route transportation services.
