Leading design and development of radar products in the Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) domain within Thales UK. Stephen is a Fellow of the IET With over 30 years’ experience in radar science and engineering. His technical expertise lies in advanced radar sensor system design, development and modelling. Previous roles taken in his career have included performing the CTO role at Aveillant Ltd, leading major applied radar programmes and product developments both military and civil. Stephen’s interests are in novel radar architectures, networked sensors, radar waveform design, advanced radar signal processing including AI and radar system management. He has authored over 100 papers and patents, is a committee member of the UK radar industry EMSIG group and active in conference organisation, most recently has been nominated as general chair for the European microwave week for 2026. After receiving his degree in electrical electronic engineering from Sheffield University he worked as a research scientist at DRA/DERA/QinetiQ whilst simultaneously developing fundamental radar research that contributed to a PhD.
